„Pagliacci (Clovnii) is a production rooted in my fascination with the circus, a universe in its own right that is constructed by way of a ceaseless desire to flee into the world of play and of the imagination, often in configurations veiled in mystery. In this piece, three clowns lead their life, which is far from easy, in a circus cart, however, they transform it into a mirific existence of dreams thanks to the magical illusion that is performance. My production was initially devised through improvisation, juggling and acrobatics, and was later followed up with texts written by the performers. In this way, Pagliacci draws on core circus elements, such as the above-mentioned juggling and acrobatics, and integrates them into the production, rather than being a piece of traditional representational theatre. The show does not follow a narrative in the immediate sense of the word but is made up of a range of suggestive tableaux without obvious connections between one another, which draw in the audience through their appeal to fantasy. Film director Federico Fellini’s favourite hero was the clown, epitomised in his masterpiece The Clowns, which inspired me and helped me understand this magical world.” – Mihaela Panainte, director
„This was an entirely new experience for me: solid and challenging work lasting for several weeks. We started off with editing the text, and later delved into the imagination by way of improvisation braided with juggling and acrobatics. These approaches helped us create a complex and special production, and I realised that the saddest and most unfulfilled human beings were in fact the clowns, whose histrionic capacities teach them to conceal and to wrap the essence of a sad life in authentic comedy. „Pagliacci (Clovnii) este un spectacol datorat fascinației mele pentru lumea
circului, o lume-univers, o lume care se exprimă prin perpetua dorință deevadare în imaginar și joc, în configurări încărcate de mister. Astfel, în povestese află trei clovni care își trăiesc viața deloc ușoară într-o căruță (de circ), transfigurată însă prin mirajul jocului într-o existență mirifică a visului.Spectacolul a fost conceput și structurat pornind de la improvizații , jonglerii și acrobații. continuate cu texte scrise de actori. Spre deosebire de o reprezentație de teatru, în Pagliacci apar elemente de jonglerie și acrobație, specifice circului, dar integrate în ansamblul reprezentației. Deși scenele nu urmează o narațiune, în sensul clasic al cuvântului, în derularea lor este întreținută vie atmosfera circului prin tablouri sugestive, aparent fără nici o legătură între ele, captivante prin proiecția lor în fantastic.Cel mai iubit erou al cineastului Federico Fellini este clovnul, pentru el a și creat filmul „Clovnii” care m-a inspirat și m-a ajutat să înțeleg această lume magică„- Mihaela Panainte, regizor
„O experiență cu totul nouă pentru mine. A fost o muncă provocatoare de câteva săptămâni. Am pornit în primele zile cu retușarea textului, ca mai apoi să forăm în imaginar prin intermediul improvizațiilor îmbinate cu module de jonglerie și acrobație. Toate astea au dus la un spectacol complex, special. Alături de bunii și talentații mei colegi am descoperit că cei mai îndurerați, triști și neimpliniți oameni sunt, de fapt, clovnii. Capacitatea histrionică ii învață să ascundă și să ambaleze esența unei vieți triste într-un comic autentic. Prin generozitatea colegilor acest spectacol experiment a prins amploare, savoare și pentru asta sunt mai mult decât recunoscător.„(Gheorghe Aurelian Răducu)
